GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
The Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) is used to qualify candidates for foreign
language training. The test which you are about to take is a short screening test and will be used
to predict your score on the longer DLAB. This screening test consists of two parts and your
combined score can be used to determine your eligibility to take the DLAB. There are no time
limits. You may review and check your answers at any time. To get the best score you should
answer all the questions. If you are not sure of the correct answer, make the best guess you can.
There is no penalty for a wrong guess. Before beginning, please answer the questions below.
