Equipment
Have you:
Analysed students’ medical information and collated lists for group leaders?

Arranged a first aid kit for each group leader, plus individual medication
where needed?

Established first aid and emergency procedures?

Obtained safety and emergency equipment?

Arranged to take at least one fully charged cell phone?

Familiarised yourself with emergency services in the area?

Established route details, emergency contact list and trip details with the school contact.
Outside contractors and instructors
Checking them out:

Has the Contracting Checklist and the Agreement between School and Outside Provider been
completed and returned?
2.
Are the leaders trained and experienced in the activities they will be
involved with?
3.
Are they trained and experienced in outdoor first aid?
4.
Can they communicate in a manner appropriate to the students?
5.
Are they familiar with the terrain and equipment to be used?
6.
Have their referees been contacted?
7.
Were they recommended?
Students
1.
Has a briefing been held with students involved in
the event, to discuss and get their input into:
possible accidents and incidents
risk management
clothing and equipment requirements?
2.
Have students completed a student contract for the class/activity?
3.
Have the educational objectives and expected learning outcomes been outlined,
and communicated to students?
4.
Has a student briefing sheet been prepared?
5.
Has a swimming ability form been completed?
6.
Are any special needs, behavioural issues, class dynamics or medical issues relevant
to the event? What are these?
7.
Is anyone arriving late or leaving early ?
8.
Have they received written instructions and a map
