Date _______________________
Dear Parent,
There has been a diagnosed and treated case of scabies among our students in the _________________
School. Scabies is an itchy condition caused by tiny mites that burrow under the skin and found
mostly between fingers and toes. The itching is usually worse at night. It is possible that your child
may have been in contact with scabies the week of ____________. If you suspect that your child may
have scabies, it is important to contact your child’s doctor or primary care provider. He or she can
make the diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment. Scabies will not go away on its own.
