2011 ELECTRONIC FILING—WHAT’S NEW IN 2011
School District Acknowledgements
Beginning in tax year 2011 software companies will provide a school district acknowledgement when the return is
sent via the MeF platform. You will receive this acknowledgement if the school district is attached to the Ohio re-
turn or if it is sent in a separate transmission. As provided in the example below, you will receive an acknowled-
gement for all school district returns that were submitted in a transmission.

Confirming an electronic deposit – Taxpayers may contact their financial institution directly to confirm an

Federal Reserve e-payments Routing Directory
routing number. Follow the on screen prompts to get the institutions phone number.
NOTE: Due to privacy laws, your client must be on the line to talk to the financial institution.

Tax Return Updates
IT 10: The following items are new on the IT 10 this year:
Taxpayer‟s who qualify may file an IT10 jointly (if their federal filing status is married filing jointly).

Taxpayers who qualify may file an IT 10 for income earned while a resident of another state but working
in Ohio as a civilian spouse of a nonresident service member.
Note:
Do not file the IT 10 if the taxpayer or spouse, if married filing jointly, had Ohio income tax withheld.
Your client cannot receive a refund for Ohio taxes withheld if they file the IT 10.
Tax Tables: Pursuant to Ohio law, the tax tables were indexed this year allowing for an adjustment for infla-
tion.
Low Income Credit: The schedule B $10,000 or less credit has been adjusted to $88.
Medical Savings Account – The maximum deposit is $4279 for taxpayers filing single or married filing sepa-
rately ($8558 if married filing jointly)
