Chemical Reaction Types Worksheet
Name: ___________________________________________________________________________________________
Period #: _________
Date: _________________
Background:
During chemical reactions, bonds break and new bonds form in order to make new stable molecules. The number of each molecule needed for any
reaction to proceed will depend on the molecule. Generally, the total number of each element on the reactants and products side of a reaction must
be equal. You can build each reactant and product, and build enough until there are the same number of atoms on each side of the equation. That will
help you determine how to balance the equation.
Part I: Identifying Elements
Complete this table using the Happy Atoms modeling kit and Happy Atoms app.
You can search for molecules by Chemical Formula OR by Common Name. If you aren’t sure how to build a molecule, Happy Atoms will help you.
