3. Submit a request to Lisa Kosiewicz Doran, International Student Specialist/Principal Designated School
Official (PDSO), in the Office of International Programs for a Social Security eligibility verification letter (see
template below).
4. Bring both your employment letter (from your supervisor), and verification letter (from Lisa Kosiewicz
Doran, PDSO), Form I-20, passport and I-94 number (see: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html) to the
Social Security Administration (SSA) office, located at 1049 N. Academy Road (directions are in the OIP
SSN packet). The office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (on Wednesdays, the
office is open 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. only).
5. When you arrive to the SSA office, you will need to complete an application form. You can preview this
form online at: In question #5, you should mark, “Legal Alien Allowed
to Work.” Also, make sure that you know your campus mailing address, and don’t forget to pick up
an application receipt notice. Be prepared to spend approximately 1-2 hours at the SSA office.
6. Upon returning to campus, go to the Financial Aid Office to complete and submit the mandatory
student employment forms (I-9 and W-4) in order to become an employee of Colorado College. You
must bring your Social Security Number (SSN) application receipt (as proof that you applied for an
SSN), and copies of your passport and I-94 number. It is a federal requirement that you complete
this paperwork after you are hired but before working any hours. After submitting these forms, you will
not be required to fill them out again.
7. When your permanent Social Security card arrives to your Worner box (3-5 weeks), submit a photocopy of
your new card to the Financial Aid Office. Also, if you have a U.S. bank account, make sure to submit your
Social Security Number to your bank (you will have 30 days from the issuance of your SS number to
do so).
*Students who have been authorized to work off-campus under Curricular or Optional Practical Training are
also eligible for a Social Security Number. Please see OIP for special instructions.

Getting there by bus:
Take the #9A/B from campus (bus stop on Cascade Avenue in front of Packard Hall, heading south) to
the downtown terminal (expect to pay about $1.75 each way; cash only; bus schedules can be picked up
from the Worner Desk) then transfer to the #5 and get off at the final stop, which will be at the Citadel Mall.
Walk one block east to Academy Boulevard, and then north to Galley Road. The office is located on the
northeast corner of Academy and Galley.
Getting there by car:
Take Nevada Ave. south to Platte Ave.
Turn left onto E. Platte Ave.
Take the Academy Blvd/CO-83 ramp toward US-24
W.
Turn left onto N. Academy Blvd/CO-83 N.
