Diskette Technical Requirements for TC-675R Reporting
Diskette Technical Requirements for TC-675R Reporting
Basic Requirements
The Utah Employers Annual Reconciliation form TC-96R and the Transmittal form TC-679A
must accompany the diskette. The data must be written on a 3½ inch diskette. You may
send as many diskettes as needed. Only disk 1 of a multiple-diskette file should begin with
the transmitter (payer) record. The external diskette labels for a multiple disk file must indi-
cate the proper sequence (e.g., Diskette 2 of 3). Each diskette must end with a complete
recipient (payee) 200 byte record.
External Label
Each magnetic media file must have an external label that shows: 1) transmitter’s name,
2) tax year being reported, and 3) whether the file contains test, original or corrected data.
Internal Files
The file name for TC-675R reporting is always 675RRPT. It cannot have any other informa-
tion following the file name, such as 675RRPT.DATA1. This file is in the root directory.
Formats
The only acceptable format for state reporting is an IBM PC Compatible (ASCII). Do not
use WordPerfect. The Tax Commission prefers carriage return and line feeds at the end of
each record, but it is not required and the magnetic media file will be accepted. No ASCII
control character (such as TAB) can be used, except for carriage return and line feeds. All
characters must be alpha or numeric. Lowercase letters are not acceptable on magnetic
media.
Logical Record Length
Each record must be a fixed length of 200 characters.
