Cut your toenails straight across
To prevent ingrown toenails,
cut your toenails straight across.
If you have trouble cutting
your toenails, speak with your
diabetes team. You may need
help from a foot specialist.

Keep the blood flowing
When you are sitting, keep your feet up if possible. Do not cross
your legs at the knees or ankles. Do not wear socks or shoes that
are too tight.

Have the doctor check your feet at every visit
Ask your doctor to check your feet at each visit. The doctor will
look for signs of problems, such as nerve or blood vessel damage.
He or she may refer you to a foot specialist or recommend special
shoes or orthotics (shoe inserts).
Taking care of your feet can prevent most foot problems.
This only takes a few minutes each day.
