ACCESSIBILITY PLAN
As an event organizer you are required to comply with all City, County, State and Federal Disability Access Requirements
applicable to your event.
All temporary venues, related structures, and outdoor sites for special events shall be accessible to persons with
disabilities. If a portion of the area cannot be made accessible, an alternate area should be provided with the same
activities that are in the inaccessible areas. The amenities cannot be offered only to patrons with disabilities.
Disability access may include, but is not limited to: parking, restrooms, portable toilets, telephones, clear paths of travel,
transportation, signage, vendor/booth accessibility, drinking fountains, building entrances, etc. If all areas are not
accessible, a map or program must be provided identifying the accessible restrooms, parking, telephones, drinking
fountains, etc.
This “accessibility plan” checklist (below) is intended to serve as a planning guideline and may not be inclusive of all City,
County, State and Federal disability access requirements. More information can be found on the
ADA
Website.
TRASH/RECYCLING PLAN
As the event organizer, you are responsible for the waste generated by your participants, spectators, and vendors as well as the
associated costs of disposal. We applaud your efforts to reduce waste, both behind the scenes and from the public. We invite you to
visit
(“Recycling, then “Events”) for a suggested planning timeline, for information on what materials can be
recycled locally, sizes and sources for trash and recycling liners and other helpful information. Trash and recycling containers must be
paired and placed side by side for maximum effectiveness. Please indicate the proposed placement of containers on the site map (p 6)
Please note: All events must submit a Trash/Recycling Plan.
Trash and recycling dumpster services are available for a fee through Allied Waste (345-1265). If dumpster(s) will be placed in a street,
you must obtain a permit from the ACHD Construction Division (387-6280) prior to delivery. ACHD requires an in-person application
and proof of insurance, so plan ahead.
Trash boxes are available to borrow on a first-come, first-serve basis from Allied Waste. Trash boxes must be requested a minimum of
two (2) weeks prior to your event. You will be charged for any boxes not returned in usable condition within seven (7) days after your
event. You are responsible for retrieving and returning the boxes to and from the Allied Waste offices during regular business hours and
for providing your own liners (20 x 16 x 47 x 1 millimeter thick, black).
For Events Downtown
Should the event organizer wish to contract with the Downtown Clean Team for trash removal, please contact the Downtown Boise
Association (see p. 31 for contact info) at least four (4) weeks prior to your event to make arrangements for scheduling and payment
procedures. Recycling collection/hauling is available through the Clean Team for an additional fee.
Recycling Agreement
Recycle Bins are available to borrow, free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis from Boise Public Works. You must submit the
Trash/Recycling Plan (required for all events) and an Equipment Request/Agreement (required for borrowing recycling bins). You must
provide your own supply liners for the recycle bins (40 X 46 x 1 millimeter thick, clear). It is your responsibility to collect and return the
bins to/from City Hall in good condition and ready for the next user.
