OLICY
Assignments are to be given at every class meeting with the exception of Art, Music, and Physical Education.
Homework is an extension of the school day and a vital part of the subject.

XAMS
Final exam exemptions will be granted to all students who have obtained an “A” average each marking cycle
and a final average of an “A” for the course(s). Students who cut class on the day of an exam will receive a “0”
for that portion of the exam. The principal or designee will make a final decision regarding make up exams.
The fifth cycle grade is the average of the mid-term examination and the final examination.

LASS
ANK
Class rank shows how each student performed in comparison with all the students in their grade level. All
grades earned in major subjects are tabulated for each of the four years of high school. Additional weight is
given to honors, advanced placement courses, and college courses.
Class Ranking will be tabulated on September 1st, February 15th, and May 1st. Final class ranking will be
determined on May 1st. However, the Grade Point Average (GPA) may be adjusted and class ranking modified
after May 1st.
To be eligible as a student of distinction, Valedictorian or Salutatorian, a student must have completed four
semesters at Irvington High School. A transfer student with a high ranking and less than four semesters may be
ineligible for the honor of a Top 12 student.

In order to attain Super Honor Roll and Honor Roll, students must achieve the following:

Minimum Credits: 25

GPA 3.5 and above
Minimum: GPA 3.0 - 3.4999
Please note that all classes are counted toward meeting the above requirements. Super Honor Roll and Honor
Roll lists are posted 1 week after the close of each marking cycle.
