Students are subject to disciplinary action for behavior that occurs off school grounds, if the behavior interferes
with the normal operation of the school. Therefore, a student who is involved in a physical altercation off school
grounds could receive a suspension.

NLAWFUL
SSEMBLY
An unlawful assembly is three or more persons assembled together and acting in a violent manner, with the
intent to commit a public offense. A person who willingly joins in or remains a part of an unlawful assembly,
knowing or having reasonable grounds to believe that it is such, violates this policy and will receive a
suspension.

ESTRUCTION OF
CHOOL
ROPERTY
The walls in the building, furniture in the classrooms, the auditorium, the library, the lunchroom, the text books,
the lavatories, and all other fixtures and equipment are provided by the Irvington Board of Education in
cooperation with the State of New Jersey. Every student shall refrain from defacing or destroying school
property. If a student is observed defacing or destroying school property, he/she will receive a suspension.
Parents are liable for damages caused by their children.

NTRUDERS
Any student who opens an exit door to allow an individual to gain entrance to Irvington High School will
receive a 5-day suspension. Additionally, the student who assists the intruder will be held responsible for any
violations caused by the intruder.
