Tardy to class
a. Students who are late to class will not be given credit for the “Do now” activity.
b. For every six (6) times a student is unexcused late to school, a day of unexcused absence will be added to
their attendance record.
Cutting Class
Cutting Class is defined as an unexcused / unexplained absence from a class or assigned location (including
lunch), when a student missed a class period without the expressed permission from an administrator and/or the
classroom teacher.
1st offense - Contact parent or guardian
2nd offense - Teacher detention & Contact parent or guardian
3rd offense - Refer to Guidance. Guidance will contact parent

offense - Teacher will submit referral to guidance and administrator - HFP
5th offense- Teacher will submit failure notice to administrator.
Reminder:
5 cuts from course per cycle / marking period = Failed Course
18 cuts per year = Non-credit for the Course
Leaving school grounds
Students are not permitted to leave the school building or school grounds without permission from
administration. The names of students who are truant may be submitted to the police department. Parents of
such students should be aware that they may be subject to criminal penalties.
Early Dismissal
Due to the importance of attending all classes we request that all medical / legal appointments be scheduled
after school whenever possible.
● Students who wish to be excused early must have a valid and verifiable excuse.
● If an emergency arises in which a student must be taken out of school, an authorized parent/legal
guardian must report to the main office and personally sign the student out. Telephone calls or notes will
not be accepted)
● Students who receive an early dismissal before 12 noon will not be given attendance credit for the day.
