EGULATIONS
Participation in the academic support program will be mandatory for students with less than the
necessary academic requirements but who meet all other eligibility criteria.
Students must be actively involved during the tutoring period. They must be prepared with academic
materials and knowledge of the subject areas where assistance is needed.
Students must be on time and attend when they are in school.
If a student does not attend but is in school (“cuts”) the following procedure will be followed:
First cut:
Written warning to the student and to the student’s coach or advisor.
Second cut:
Disqualification for the next activity if non-athletic in nature.
Third cut:
Immediately removed from that extracurricular program for the remainder
of the school year.
After one semester of probation, students must have the required 2.0 GPA for further extracurricular
participation.
Tutoring sessions will be of one hour in duration held before, after school, or on Saturdays. Students
must attend a minimum of five sessions per week unless prevented by school absence.
Special education students, who meet the requirements of his/her Individual Education Plan (IEP) as
verified by Special Services, are eligible to participate under the NJSIAA requirements. However,
these students must participate in the support program if his/her GPA is below 2.0.
The District will provide tutors and develop procedures to monitor student progress and attendance.
Student progress will be recorded and evaluated.
Students who participate in athletic programs will be assigned to guidance counselors who meet
NJSIAA guidelines
